It was way back in 1989 that Pat and Linda O’Brien opened a small plant nursery deep in the Norfolk countryside. Now, three decades later that small nursery has blossomed into a modern, highly efficient operation with five acres of growing areas and polytunnels filled to the brim with around 5,000 varieties of plants and trees.
Still a family business today with son Sean and wife Karina joining Pat and Linda with 10 other permanent staff the company began manufacturing polytunnels for their own use in 2008.
Those original polytunnels were produced because of the families frustration with the poor quality items they had purchased from other suppliers. After all, if you need a good job doing - do it yourself. Following demand from customers production began in earnest a year later with online sales beginning in 2010.
Now, Direct Polytunnels supply their products to customers all around the UK. Hobbyist gardeners and commercial growers know that the best quality polytunnels are manufactured in Norfolk.
